Turing-Manchester Chair in AI

The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a Chair in Artificial Intelligence to develop their research programme in Manchester, building on existing research strengths in computational biology and health data science. The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health has ambitious plans to develop powerful artificial intelligence approaches to bioscience and health research. Our research is being transformed by the widespread adoption of data-intensive technologies, from the multi-omics and high-resolution imaging experiments being carried out in our core facilities and research institutes, through to the new digital healthcare technologies being developed in our Christabel Pankhurst Institute.

This post is part of an institution-wide strategic investment into AI in recent years, with many new academic appointments, partnering with the Alan Turing Institute, establishment of a Centre for AI Fundamentals, and formation of a European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) unit. The successful applicant will have a distinguished track record of research in artificial intelligence and a strong theoretical and applied background in machine learning and quantitative research in biology, medicine and/or health.
