Advances in AIConference 2027

Digital Futures is excited to announce the date of the 2027 Advances in AI Conference (ADSAI). The conference will build on the 10-year legacy of the Advances in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence conference series, The University of Manchester’s annual forum for showcasing and exploring international, interdisciplinary AI research. The 2027 conference will explore “AI for public good” through an interdisciplinary lens, bringing together partners from the public and private sectors. An open call for poster and spotlight-talk submissions will open in late October 2026, alongside ticket sales. Share your research

We invite submissions for Spotlight Talks and academic posters at the Advances in AI Conference 2027, Manchester, UK.

Under the theme AI for Public Good, the conference will bring together research on AI’s foundations, applications and wider implications. We welcome technical, applied, interdisciplinary and critical contributions that advance understanding, share emerging findings and stimulate collaboration.

Submission tracks

World-leading Research — Spotlight Talks

This track is for developed research offering a significant contribution to its field, presented as a short Spotlight Talk within the conference programme. These are typically journal or conference papers already published, in review or about to be submitted for publication. For OpenReview, either submit the original paper or an accessible link to the published paper. You still need to fill the basic fields in the submission, including Title and Abstract.

Presentation format: a 15-minute Spotlight slot. A 10-minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions. Further guidance will be provided to presenters.

Emerging Research — Academic Posters

This track is for academic posters displayed in the conference exhibition hall, providing opportunities for discussion, feedback and new connections.

We welcome work in progress, preliminary findings, developing methods and promising research directions. Submissions should describe a clear question, the approach, progress to date and intended contribution. Final results are not required, but planned activity should be distinguished from completed work.

“Emerging” refers to the stage of the research, not the presenter’s career stage.

In OpenReview, submit your contribution as a two-page PDF document including relevant sections such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion. Each page should be formatted in A4, with a minimum font size of 11pts and 2cm margins. References are not included withing the two-page limit.

Areas of interest

Our interests span four broad, interconnected areas:

AI Fundamentals and Methods: machine learning, statistical and probabilistic methods, foundation models, language and vision, reasoning, planning, robotics and autonomous systems, robustness and evaluation.

Responsible, Ethical and Inclusive AI: trustworthy AI, fairness, explainability, human–AI interaction, accessibility, governance, regulation and societal implications.

Environmental Sustainability and the Impacts of AI: AI for environmental challenges, resource-efficient methods and the environmental costs, benefits and trade-offs of AI.

Digital Infrastructure and Capability: data science, research software, computing infrastructure, cyber security and resilience, reproducibility, skills and adoption.

Across these areas, we are interested in applications including health, robotics, public services, science and engineering, industry, and the creative and cultural sectors.

How to submit

Submit through the Advances in AI 2027 OpenReview portal from 19 October 2026 until 5pm UK time (GMT) on Thursday 26 November 2026.

Use an institutional or organisational email address where available. Account registration using a public email domain may take up to two weeks in moderation, so do not leave registration until the deadline.

Registration and fees

All attending Spotlight Talk and poster presenters must register and pay the applicable conference fee through the University’s online store by 5pm UK time (GMT) on Friday 15 January 2027, the early-bird deadline, to confirm their place in the programme. Non-attending co-authors do not need to register.

Standard two-day fee: £180.

Early-bird two-day fee: £150 for registration and payment completed by the deadline above.

Concessionary two-day fee: £150 for eligible early-career researchers and start-up delegates. Subject to availability. Eligibility details will be published with registration information.

OpenReview submission and conference registration are separate processes. Acceptance does not include a complimentary ticket or an additional presenter discount; early-bird and concessionary discounts are not cumulative. You may register before receiving a submission decision, but purchasing a ticket does not influence selection.

FAQs

Will submissions or reviews be public?

Submissions will be accessible to their authors and the authorised conference review team during selection. Accepted titles, abstracts and author names and affiliations will be published online from acceptance. Unsuccessful submissions and review reports will not be made public, unless by request. Before submitting, ensure that all co-authors agree to submission and publication, and that you have permission to share the material. Do not include confidential or restricted information. Use of the submission platform is subject to the OpenReview Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Do I need to work at The University of Manchester?

No. We welcome research contributions from other institutions and sectors.

Do I need to prepare my A0 poster before applying?

No. Submit your contribution as via the OpenReview process and prepare the poster after acceptance.

Are posters restricted to postgraduate or early-career researchers?

No career-stage restriction is proposed. The conference is committed to supporting the development of early-career researchers (ECRs), providing opportunities to present research, receive constructive feedback and build connections across disciplines. We particularly encourage ECR submissions to either track; choose according to the work’s maturity and the presentation format.

Can I submit work that has already been published?

Yes, provided you identify its status, acknowledge the publication and have permission to present it. Authors must check any restrictions imposed by other venues.

Can a Spotlight submission also be considered for a poster?

Applicants may opt in to poster consideration if a Spotlight place is unavailable. Submit the same work only once.

Do presenters need to attend, register and pay?

Yes. Attending Spotlight Talk and poster presenters must register and pay through the University of Manchester’s online store by 5pm UK time (GMT) on Friday 15 January 2027 to confirm their programme place. Non-attending co-authors are exempt. See “Registration and fees” above. This is to allow us to cover running costs and confirm the agenda in a timely manner.

When will I hear the outcome?

We aim to notify applicants by 8th January 2027 at the latest, before the presenter registration and payment deadline of 5pm UK time (GMT) on Friday 15 January 2027.
